Neck Pain Physical Therapy in Hackensack, NJ
Neck Pain That Won't Quit Needs a Plan.
Desk workers, lifters, and busy adults come to us dealing with neck pain and cervical stiffness when it's been around long enough to affect work, sleep, and training. There's a better way forward.

Chronic Neck Pain Doesn't Go Away on Its Own. It Gets Managed.
Stretching Every Morning Isn't a Fix.
If you need to roll your neck every morning just to feel functional, that's a sign the problem hasn't been addressed. Temporary relief from stretching is not a fix.
Posture Cues Help for an Hour. Then It's Back.
Sitting up straighter helps in the moment, but posture alone doesn't fix tissue restrictions, joint mobility deficits, or the muscular imbalances driving your neck pain. You need more than a reminder to sit up.
The Headaches Are Connected. Both Need Attention.
Neck pain often comes with referred symptoms — headaches, tension across the upper back, tingling into the arms. Treating just the site of pain without addressing the contributing factors leaves the whole picture incomplete.
More Than a Heating Pad and Generic Exercises
Typical PT for neck pain means a heating pad and a few generic exercises. At Ethos, every session is 60 minutes of direct one-on-one care with a licensed clinician who does the assessment work to find the actual source and address it with targeted, hands-on treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about neck pain care, what to expect, and how we approach it.
Do I need a referral to come in for neck pain?
No referral is needed. New Jersey allows direct access to physical therapy, so you can schedule directly without seeing another provider first. If you have existing imaging or notes from a physician, bring them — they provide useful context, but they're not required to get started.
Can PT help if I have nerve pain going down my arm?
Cervical-related arm symptoms — tingling, numbness, or radiating pain — are common with neck issues and often respond well to physical therapy. The assessment will help determine the likely source and whether PT is the appropriate starting point, or whether further evaluation is needed first.
It's been chronic for years. Does that matter?
Chronic neck pain is common and very treatable. The fact that it's been present for a long time usually means the underlying cause was never fully addressed — not that it's permanent. A thorough assessment gives us a clear picture of what's driving it and what needs to change.
Is this different from a chiropractor or massage?
Physical therapy at Ethos addresses joint mobility, muscle function, strength deficits, and the full movement picture — not just the site of pain. Manual therapy is one part of the approach. The goal is to find the root cause and create lasting change, not just temporary relief.
Do you accept insurance?
Ethos Physical Therapy is a cash-based, self-pay clinic. We do not bill insurance directly. We can provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement, and we submit OON claims as a courtesy through Reimbursify at no cost to you. HSA and FSA payments are accepted.
